If there is a Hostetler or Hochstetler (or a half-dozen variations of this name) in your family tree, then you may be a descendant of the 1738 Swiss German immigrant Jacob Hochstetler. It is estimated that there are from five hundred thousand to one million of us living from coast to coast in the United States of America, as well as in a number of other countries.
The purpose of this website, which is funded by H/H/H Newsletter subscriptions and membership donations, is to educate anyone who has an interest in the long-term and powerful impact that this simple man had on his family and his heirs.
Jacob also played a quiet but painful and sustained role as a captive during the French/Indian War. His entanglement did not change history but it created a precedent that is alive today and carried forward by his descendants.
We hope that you learn something about Jacob and his descendants from this website and we encourage all descendants to "keep us in the loop" with what is happening in your particular neck of the woods. This is a very interactive website that supports a very interactive family association and we encourage you to feed back to us anything that's important to you!
We also encourage anyone who benefits from this genealogical effort to consider a donation to support it. Our Newletter is very informational, thanks to the hard work of Daniel E. Hochstetler and associates, and is another way by which you can support our purely voluntary work.
Thanks for visiting as you browse the pages and links of this website.
The Search Engine below is an efficient means to quickly search all 171 documents (not pages) of information that is available on this website. It will quickly search everything that's here including links, .pdf's and images. It's even built to do a "search within a search" for those who want to refine their search criteria to more granular specifics. It is devoted to this site alone, however, and not the infinite external resource that is available on the World Wide Web.
